When you visit us for a check-up, we will first carry out an examination or assessment. This is the first part of each course of NHS treatment and is included in the Band 1 charge.
Your dentist will decide if you require any dental treatment to keep your mouth, teeth and gums healthy and free of pain.
Decisions about which treatment is appropriate will be based on our clinical assessment and clinical judgement. We will let you know which treatments can be provided on the NHS and which can only be provided on a private basis.
For treatment under Band 2, Band 3 or a mix of NHS and private treatments we will provide you with a treatment plan which will detail the proposed dental treatments and associated costs.
The charge you pay depends on the treatment you need to keep your mouth, gums and teeth healthy. You will only be asked to pay one charge for each complete course of treatment, even if you need to visit your dentist more than once to finish it.
We ask you to sign a copy of the treatment plan before we start the treatment. Treatment plans are usually not given for Band 1 or urgent dental treatments, but you can ask for one if you like.
