Regular patient check-up

At your regular dental check-up, we will carry out an examination or assessment, this is the first part of each course of NHS treatment and is included in the Band 1 charge.

If you want to have any cosmetic dental treatment, including Invisalign teeth straightening and dental implants this will be done privately, and we will provide you with a treatment plan that will detail the treatments being undertaken and the associated fees.

X-rays

During a routine examination we may ask to take x-rays of your teeth and gums. We use start-of-the art x-ray and digital scanning equipment to help us check for any problems that can be difficult to spot with the naked eye. We do this to help us identify any plaque build up in between the teeth and at the back of your mouth allowing us to cover all bases during your check-up and provide the best available advice and treatment.

At your dental check-up

At your check-up we will ask you about your medical history and whether you are currently taking any medicine.

We will carry out a full examination of your mouth, teeth and gums and ask about your general health and any problems you may have had with your teeth, mouth or gums since your last visit. We may also ask about and give advice on your diet, smoking and drinking.

We will give you advice on the best ways to keep your mouth, teeth and gums healthy, explaining any risks, as well as dental costs, of all treatment you may need.

Finally we will arrange your next appointment, many of us have got used to going to the dentist every 6 months but you might need to go more often or less often than this depending on how healthy your mouth and teeth are.
