General dentistry

At MP Dental, we provide NHS dental treatments, together with private treatment options including Invisalign and dental implants. We also offer treatments that can be completed in one visit such as a new dental crown.

We are aware that most of our patients come to us for everyday dentistry and general dentistry is orientated towards the treatment of dental issues and disease.

White Fillings

Fillings have commonly been made from either gold or a silver-coloured alloy called amalgam. These materials are extremely durable, however, the main disadvantage is that they don’t match the natural white colour of teeth in appearance.

At MP Dental as a private treatment, we offer white fillings, also known as composite fillings. These are made from tooth-coloured material that provide the same benefits of amalgam fillings whilst restoring the appearance of a previously filled tooth, giving your teeth a more natural look.

Using composite is a completely safe procedure and can be used for new fillings or to replace any old metal fillings you may have to give your teeth a more natural overall appearance

Inlays

An inlay is a small filling that fits into the biting surface of a tooth. Made from tooth-coloured porcelain and gives the restored tooth a more natural look, which many patients prefer.

MP Dental are proud to offer Inlays as part of our private One Visit Dentistry. After your initial consultation, your permanent Inlay can be designed, manufactured and placed in your mouth in just one visit, reducing travelling and waiting times and letting you get on with your life.

Crowns

A dental crown is a type of dental restoration used to fix teeth that have been broken, weakened by decay or have a very large filling. Made from ceramic and tooth coloured materials, the crown fits over the remaining part of a prepared tooth, making it strong and giving it the shape and appearance of a natural tooth, so it fits in with the rest of your teeth. What’s more, you don’t have to deal with messy moulds, and wait weeks for your crown to to made. Your treatment can be completed within a few hours with our private One Visit Dentistry.

How long a crown lasts depends on how well it is looked after. It is important to keep this area just as clean as you would your natural teeth in order to prevent decay around the area.

Bridges

A dental bridge fixes an artificial tooth (or teeth) to natural teeth on one or both sides of a gap.

Some bridges have crowns at each end that fit over the natural teeth; others are fixed to the surface of the teeth next to the gap. Each bridge is carefully hand crafted by a skilled technician to emulate the natural teeth as closely as possible.

A dental bridge may take the place of one or more missing teeth and the results can be excellent with good function and aesthetic results. With careful maintenance, a well-made bridge can last many years.

Dentures

Whether you are missing a few, or many of your teeth then dentures could be the solution for you. They can restore your smile and make eating enjoyable once again.

A denture is made from hard-wearing material that mimics the look of teeth and gums to give your mouth a natural appearance. At MP Dental we provide excellent bespoke dentures that are constructed using the latest modern techniques and materials. Correctly fitted dentures are designed to restore your lip support, therefore avoiding that ‘sunken face’ look that can appear following the loss of your teeth.

You will be able to remove your dentures for cleaning, and our hygienist can show you how to best take care of your denture(s) and gums. As always it is important that you take extra care in your hygiene routine to avoid tooth decay and gum disease.
