As an NHS dental provider MP Dental will provide any clinically necessary treatment needed to keep your mouth, teeth and gums healthy and free of pain.

Do I pay for my NHS treatment?

You do not have to pay for NHS dental services if you are

  • Under 18, or under 19 and in full-time education.

  • Pregnant or have had a baby in the last 12 months.

  • Being treated in an NHS hospital and your treatment is carried out by the hospital dentist (but you may have to pay for any dentures or Bridges)

  • Receiving low-income benefits, or you're under 20 and a dependant of someone receiving low income benefits.

If you normally pay for NHS dental treatment, the amount you spend will depend on what treatment you need, click here for more information.

Your NHS Dental Journey

Step

01

Dental Check-Up

When you visit us for a check-up, we will first carry out an examination or assessment. This is the first part of each course of NHS treatment and is included in the Band 1 charge.

Step

02

If treatment is required

Your dentist will decide if you require any dental treatment to keep your mouth, teeth and gums healthy and free of pain.

Decisions about which treatment is appropriate will be based on our clinical assessment and clinical judgement. We will let you know which treatments can be provided on the NHS and which can only be provided on a private basis.

Step

03

Treatment Plan & Costs

For treatment under Band 2, Band 3 or a mix of NHS and private treatments we will provide you with a treatment plan which will detail the proposed dental treatments and associated costs.

The charge you pay depends on the treatment you need to keep your mouth, gums and teeth healthy. You will only be asked to pay one charge for each complete course of treatment, even if you need to visit your dentist more than once to finish it.

We ask you to sign a copy of the treatment plan before we start the treatment. Treatment plans are usually not given for Band 1 or urgent dental treatments, but you can ask for one if you like.

Step

04

Can treatments change?

Sometimes a proposed treatment can change on further investigation or as a result of changes in your oral health after the initial assessment, any changes to treatment will be discussed and agreed with you.
